What is an Herbal Tincture?
Tinctures are liquid extracts made from herbs that you take orally (by mouth). They are usually extracted in alcohol (known here on our website as “regular”), but they can also be extracted in vegetable glycerine or apple cider vinegar (non-alcohol).
Tinctures are easy and convenient to use.
Because they are taken directly under the tongue, they enter the bloodstream much more quickly and directly than by any other means. This means that the action in the body is usually quicker then too.
Although some herbs will have an immediate effect, such as those used to help one relax, others that are more nutritive and building in nature may take several weeks of continual use before best results are seen.

What is the shelf life of a tincture?
Alcohol preparations have a long shelf life as alcohol slows decomposition of materials. Herbal tinctures made using the appropriate amount of alcohol are shelf-stable and do not need to be refrigerated.
We recommend using alcohol-based herbal tinctures within two years. However, some alcohol tinctures and liniments have a shelf life of 3-5 years, particularly those made with a high percentage of alcohol.

How much is in a dropperful?
There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to herbal tinctures, and that’s a good thing! Your body is beautifully unique, and how you absorb and respond to herbs depends on factors like your constitution, current health, and the systems you're looking to support. Dosing with tinctures is easy and convenient! A dropperful is one milliliter which equals 20 drops. We recommend a dose of 30 drops once or twice daily. We leave it up to the individual to find the dose that works best for them.

Do I take the tincture straight?
It is recommended to take the tincture straight without dilution and place the drops under the tongue and hold for 30 seconds before swallowing. We understand that some tinctures are strong tasting or you might dislike the taste so it is fine to dilute the drops in a small amount of water, juice or tea. 1-2 TBSP liquid then add the drops!

Do you allow returns?
We allow return of herbal tinctures only if they have not been opened. If for some reason you need to return it, please contact us and we will give you a return label.

What solvents are used in your herbal tincture process??
We use cold extraction using non-gmo cane alcohol and distilled water. The ratio is 1:5, meaning one part dried herbs to 5 part liquid. Our tinctures are steeped for 21 days.
